Ring… Ring… “So and So didn’t show up today.”
Ring… Ring… “I forgot I was supposed to work on Saturday!”
Ring… Ring… “I’ve worked EVERY Friday all month, and he hasn’t had to work any weekends. That’s not fair.”
You get the idea. Scheduling workers can be a nightmare. A digital calendar can help. Consider a Google calendar for your scheduling needs.
Each worker can add the work scheduling calendar to their google calendar. They can either create a private one where they block off times they cannot work, or they can simply add you as a ‘View Busy Times’ only user on their current google calendar. Don’t worry, you can’t see personal details, it just shows you what is and isn’t busy. Learn more about sharing here.
Once you are invited, be sure to invite them to the work calendar where they can see the events and details.
Now just go to your calendars in google and click so you can only view the Scheduling Calendar. Next, add each worker’s free/busy calendars you are invited to see. Now you can add work shifts as events for the week and invite workers to those events. Bonus… you can put multiple reminders on their events so that they get a notification the day before or an hour before their shift.
